Cistern Water Gauge
Harold
Trosley developed the cistern water gauge prototype in
the 1990's. He was a native of Pennsylvania who fell in
love with St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands in 1970 and
made the island his home. Harold worked for many years
with Gordon and Soraya Coffelt and was a loyal friend
and dedicated employee. He died suddenly in September,
2003 of a health condition. Just before he died, he had
begun selling the gauges to the public. He loved
practical jokes, but knew well the frustration of
unexpectedly running out of water in a cistern when you
are standing covered with soap in a shower. The Coffelts’
company has now taken over production and distribution
of the gauge.
Cistern water
Gauge operates on air and water pressure. A ¼ inch tube
runs from the wall mounted gauge to the bottom of the
cistern. When a small amount of air is pumped through
the tube, the gauge displays the number of inches of
water in the cistern.
